Jazz at GREEN ROOM: Likhachev/Hofmeister/Askari/Baranczyk
Der VVK ist beendet. Es sind noch ausreichend Tickets an der Abendkasse verfügbar.
Russian-born and Cologne-based saxophonist and composer Yaroslav Likhachev has been playing actively with his quartet since 2016 and presents the bandleader's and tenor saxophonist's own compositions, which are stylistically situated in contemporary jazz but deeply rooted in the American jazz tradition.
The musical concept behind it goes in two directions at the same time: new sound worlds and rhythms are explored - e.g. inspired by "new music" - and combined with the wealth of possibilities of the bop vocabulary and its contemporary interpretation.
It happens by itself that each band member brings in his or her own musical experiences and influences that shape the collective interaction - constantly searching for new improvisational ways and means of expression with the aim of breaking through and redefining existing boundaries.
Regardless of the complexity of form and harmony, and both in energetic outbursts and lyrical passages, the music of this quartet always remains catchy and understandable. On April 16, 2020 the debut album of the Yaroslav Likhachev Quartet "Crumbling" was released on renowned Cologne label JazzHausMusik.
In 2019 Yaroslav Likhachev Quartet will perform at the world famous MOERS Festival. Winning band of the jazz scholarship jazz@undesigned2018 of Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken
Finalist Band New German Jazz Award 2020.
On this evening Yaroslav Likhachev's compositions will be reinterpreted in a different instrumentation with Jonathan Hofmeister, Reza Askari and Moritz Baranczyk.
