Rachel Therrien’s new european quartet “Vena” was born aftermany european tours where she had to hire local musicians to accompany her shows. Following the many concerts, they developed a great musical chemistry and also a great friendship.

They recorded Rachel’s 5th albumin Paris in May 2019 at Studio de Meudon, counting 15 new original compositions. “VENA” released under French Label Bonsaï Musique, was nominated for best Jazz Album at the 2021 JUNOS Awards and is currently touring Europe and America.

Original ensemble consists of Mareike Wiening, Jerry Lu and Calvin Lennig. The four musicians represent a perfect parity under Rachel’s new formation, which is for her a way of helping create change. “I want to play with who I feel like playing with, and this time, my four favourite musicians happen to have 2 men and 2 women in this new group. There is no better example of equality than Parity ”

This perfect mix of people gave her inspirations for new compositions where Rachel infuses each member’s musical influences to create a new “European Color” to her proper voice.
