Jazz at JAKI: Clara Haberkamp "Eastern Heritage"
The Romanian city of Timisoara will be the European Capital of Culture 2023 - reason enough to pay a musical visit to the far east of Europe!
The eight jazz musicians around composer Clara Haberkamp come from Germany and Romania. In their project "eastern heritage" they combine lyrical German jazz with the rhythmic power of Romanian folklore. Romanian artists, poets and musicians, such as George Enescu or Maria Tanase, are wrapped in a jazz garment and rearranged for this program. In addition, there are East-European inspired original compositions and a band with eight exceptional musicians, who merge into one unit and do not stop at spontaneous musical experiments.
The musical spectrum ranges from refined grooves to poetic-melodic ballads and suspenseful swing. All players are groundbreaking as soloists and as band members, they are among the best in their field and belong to the top of jazz in Germany and Romania.
