Matthias Schriefl - Mit Pauken und Trompeten
Rund um die älteste Trompeten-Section der Welt
For almost 20 years, trumpeters Andy Haderer and Matthias Schriefl, who are among the most versatile brass players in Europe, have been delighting audiences with their concentrated brass power and swinging playing. Haderer has been the lead trumpet player of the WDR Big Band and professor of jazz trumpet in Cologne for 25 years and, like Schriefl, loves to play other instruments such as the piccolo trumpet or valve trombone from time to time. Schriefl, who is 20 years younger, is a musical jack-of-all-trades and multi-instrumentalist and was a student of Andy Haderer. With their diverse brass instruments, both present an almost orchestral-sounding mixture of mainly swinging jazz with funky or South American-influenced grooves, guaranteed with at least one heart-rending ballad. They are supported in the first set by a first-class band with Prof. Hubert Nuss (piano), Marcus Rieck (drums) and Caris Hermes (bass).
In the second set, they are joined by an entire trumpet section that played in the BuJazzO 20 years ago, Bruno Müller on guitar and two more drummers. By then at the latest, there will be no stopping and a huge, inspiring, musically swinging birthday firework display will flood the Stadtgarten.
Matthias Schriefl (trumpet, flugelhorn, tuba, euphonium), Andy Haderer (trumpet, flugelhorn), Volker Deglmann (trumpet, flugelhorn), Jan Schneider (trumpet, flugelhorn), Bruno Müller (guitar), Hubert Nuss (piano), Caris Hermes (double bass, bass), Marcus Rieck (drums), Antoine Duijkers (drums), Sebastian Nickoll (percussion)
