For the concert on 7th June, Janning Trumann has invited New York-based vibraphonist Dierk Peters and Cologne-based saxophonist Jonas Engel. Trumann has a close working relationship with Dierk Peters, they have already recorded two albums together with his New York Quartet and Dierk also plays a central role in his octet with his colourful and multi-layered sounds. Jonas Engel is already a firmly established improviser in Cologne with his various ensembles. In the last few years, he has greatly revived the connection to the Copenhagen scene with his project KøKö, bringing together musicians from both scenes. As a duo, Peters and Engel move on the borderline between composition and energetic improvisation, which runs as a red line through the programme.

In addition, he himself plays a poetically gripping as well as powerfully flowing jazz with his Cologne quartet. Stimulatingly complex and at the same time endowed with magnetic melodies, expressive and yet always making clear, musical statements. Wonderfully savouring the sounds and vocal quality of his instrument and at the same time embedding them in the collaborative shaping of his stringent compositions and their improvisational freedom. The analogue effects and the synthesizer also play a special role in the harmony and sound development.
Thus Janning Trumann, together with Lucas Leidinger, Florian Herzog and Thomas Sauerborn, unfolds an enormous, deeply effective energy. The quartet tours internationally and has performed at the Jazz Baltica Festival and Jazzahead!
