NICA live im GREEN ROOM Two Blue Elephants In-Jung Jun/Simon Rummel & GIW

Since January, the four NICA Artists Elisabeth Coudoux, Pablo Giw, Pablo Held and Tamara Lukasheva have regularly presented musical ideas, visions, cooperations or discoveries under their names in the monthly concert series "NICA presents". We are very happy to continue the series as "NICA live" in the new open-air concert space GREEN ROOM in the back part of the outdoor restaurant of the Stadtgarten (the former "Al Bosco"). Tonight is curated by NICA Artist Pablo Giw and Tamara Lukasheva.

  • Due to illness the duo: Tombak/Trumpet unfortunately cannot play. Instead Pablo GIW will play a solo set. -

Tombak/Trumpet
Tombak/Trumpet, the duo of percussionist Joss Turnbull and trumpet player Pablo Giw expand a musical horizon above the stage, which leads from the Tehran highway to stomping machine beats, over wide trumpet sounds to rattling speech samples and circulating patterns on the drum skin. Almost a DJ session on a Persian carpet, which at the same time turns out to be an acoustic instrumental duo. In their more than ten years of collaboration and friendship, the two musicians have released the album "Tombak/Trumpet", realized countless concerts and projects and toured together for research in Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey.

Two Blue Elephants
Dancer In-Jung Jun completed her training in South Korea and the USA before dancing for choreographers in Asia, America and Europe. She has developed numerous pieces of her own, many of them at the Tanzhaus NRW and in her native city of Seoul. The question of the authentic, of the reality behind the surface on the one hand, but also the intuitive, creative play on the other, are characteristic of her work. Simon Rummel studied jazz piano with John Taylor and Hans Lüdemann, but also opened his eyes to different ways of making music, building instruments and performing. In 2008 In-Jung Jun developed a dance solo with live music together with him, since then both have played and danced together in different contexts.
