Past & Present – The Music of Dirk Raulf
Der Vorverkauf ist beendet. Es sind noch ausreichend Tickets an der Abendkasse erhältlich.
A lot has happened since Dirk Raulf made a name for himself as a saxophonist and composer in the late 80s/early 90s with the bands Kölner Saxophon Mafia and TOME XX. Countless own projects as composer, musician, author, curator, organizer and director, his own small label POISE, about 100 commissioned music for theatre, film and dance, as well as festivals, radio plays, plays and always different music projects, including "NOX" with the Cologne local hero Gerd Köster (2003 - 2009) and since 2008 the bass saxophone quartet DEEP SCHROTT founded by Raulf. The latest project is called "d.o.o.r", a duo with the singer and keyboarder Oona Kastner, to whom Raulf is also married since 2019. The two immediately received the German Record Critics' Award for their first album "Songs from a darkness" and are currently working on a large sound installation for the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main.
With "The Music of Dirk Raulf" the Stadtgarten shows an overview of his current musical work. Besides "d.o.o.r" he can be heard with DEEP SCHROTT (the band presents their fifth album), furthermore with his long-time musical partner Frank Schulte (electronics) as "sonargemeinschaft" and for the start simply SOLO. All compositions on this evening by Dirk Raulf.
