Rachel Eckroth Trio - Humanoid
Rachel Eckroth's musical world is inviting, exciting and full of surprises: The American singer-songwriter and keyboardist is a busy and highly creative musician; her bold visions and combination of jazz experimentation and pop sensibilities drive her own projects. Humanoid, another captivating chapter in Eckroth's ever-evolving sound, follows her Grammy-nominated, synth-heavy The Garden (2021) and her stunning solo piano improv album One, released earlier this year. It showcases not only her skill and uniqueness as a pianist and improviser, but also her strengths as a bandleader and composer.
"Humanoid focuses more on the songs and what we can get out of them than what we can add to them." (Rachel Eckroth)
"It reflects her curiosity and boldness, but also embodies her artistry and gift for capturing and expressing the range of human emotion in all its intensity - from deep melancholy to supreme joy - creating vastly different dynamics and soundscapes, from frenetic to serene, from humorous to lyrical, from relaxed to extremely urgent. She enjoys this time and space with musicians who share her passion and sense of freedom." (Sharonne Cohen, July 2023)
Eckroth can lead with a bold vision or accompany with subtle skills to make another musician shine. That same crossover talent is why she's been a featured vocalist and keyboardist in the bands of Rufus Wainwright, St. Vincent, KT Tunstall and Chris Botti.
