Sarāb
With its unique blend of Arabic music, jazz and rock, Sarāb is one of the leading groups on the Parisian music scene, which also includes the dazzling trombonist Robinson Khoury.
Born from the encounter between the French-Syrian singer Climène Zarkan and the guitarist Baptiste Ferrandis, Sarāb - Fata Morgana in Arabic - is a musical entity that combines rock, contemporary jazz and traditional Arabic music and plays with boundaries and genres. The duo quickly transformed into a six-piece, with each member becoming indispensable to the musical composition. Robinson Khoury's trombone connects with the voice and navigates between Eastern and European scales, between ornamentation and a personal technique. In the trombone and in the singing we find the horizontality of Arabic music disturbed by the rich harmonic verticality of the guitar and the piano. Sarāb is one of the most popular bands on the Parisian jazz scene.
Climène Zarkan (vocals), Robinson Khoury (trombone. vocals), Thibault Gomez (piano, vocals), Baptiste Ferrandis (guitar), Timothé Robert (bass), Paul Berne (drums)
