Holding on, letting go-Tour 2022
"Whoever buys a Sophia record or attends a concert of this cult band around Robin Proper-Sheppard knows what to expect: Music for the melancholic moments of life. Some also mean: indie rock for sad dumplings." (Hamburger Abendblatt, 2016)
With "As We Make Our Way (Unknown Harbours)" being a title of almost self-fulfilling prophecy both before and in the parenthesis, you get closer to Proper-Sheppard's laughter than usual. No, it's still not a happy Sophia album by any means, but at least it's one full of cautious hope and optimistic warmth of heart.
And we're happy to follow him on his new, cautiously positive-tinged path. So does that make this record a summation of 20 Sophia years now? Robin thinks about it for a moment and says: "I never thought of it that way. But yeah, on a subconscious level that could absolutely be true." An ending then? No, more like a new beginning.
