The Staves
The Staves are looking forward to going on tour with All Now, their new program.
Jess and Camilla say of All Now: "It's a stream of consciousness about frustration and feeling overwhelmed by modernity. It's kind of a rejection of the performative way we have to express ourselves today for it to be considered valid."
All Now is the result of a chaotic period followed by a period of enforced rest for the band. In February 2021, The Staves released their third album Good Woman, an album about love and loss written during an unsettling period of turmoil and pain. "There was a delayed reaction to trauma and these big changes that were out of your control," Jess says of the time after Good Woman, when the band - like the rest of us - were forced to come to terms with their thoughts, as well as the death of their mother and other seismic changes. Emily took a back seat on this album (although she still contributed vocals to a handful of tracks) to focus on motherhood, while Camilla struggled with her own health issues. After two years of deep solitude, The Staves did what they do best and started writing again. The idea was to go against most of what they had been doing in recent years by returning to their collective origins and focusing almost exclusively on themselves and their guitars as a starting point.
