Uri Caine & Theo Bleckmann
Two of New York’s most creative and irreverent jazz musicians take on the Western classical art songs. Caine and Bleckmann take on repertoire that is usually reserved for the classical vocal recital but both have a long history of traversing between (contemporary) classical music and jazz. They have recorded and toured together -- their love and musicality for these songs make this a jazz concert of unparalleled innovation, joy, playful improvisations, turning Western classical tradition on its head. Their repertoire includes song-cycles by Schumann, Schubert and Wagner and songs by Gershwin, Kurt Weill, Hanns Eisler, Scarlatti, Mahler and many more.
