Uri Caine Trio feat. Barbara Walker
In 2014, Uri Caine wrote a piece for the Philadelphia Orchestra in honor of Octavius Catto, the great civil rights leader and teacher from Philadelphia who was murdered there in 1874. The music was accompanied by a large gospel choir with singer Barbara Walker and the Uri Caine Trio. This version of the story features the trio and Barbara with additional music that tells the story of this great man and his time.
With her generous, resonant vocal chords, singer Barbara Walker has always been destined for success on the big stage. From her musical beginnings as a 16-year-old singing professionally with her father, organist Bill Walker, this young, dynamic woman from West Philadelphia has always been recognized as a passionate and promising vocalist. She is an entertainer in the truest sense of the word, backed by an incredibly powerful voice; a woman whose performance exemplifies the word "excitement".
Barbara Walker (vocals), Uri Caine (piano), Mike Boone (bass), Jim Black (drums)
