kapelle17 embodies music that becomes special through the close friendship and bond of the musicians involved.
On this basis, a wide variety of interests, influences and discoveries are shared with each other, providing inspiration in the band process and ultimately allowing concrete and clearly perceptible musical moods to emerge from the shared lives of the five young musicians. The compositions in which these moods result are written or arranged together and, through their diversity, want to make the audience feel that music is as colourful as art and nature, as the cosmos and people.
Thus, kapelle17 is reminiscent of underground hip hop and free jazz of the 60s, of rhythmically complex avant-garde music and Brazilian jazz. The instrumentation, expanded by flutes, percussion, synthesizers and effects, completes a round band sound that always sounds fresh, independent and self-confident.
The band represents a fusion of different big cities (Berlin, New York, Cologne and Leipzig) and their music scenes, but originally its members come from Southern Germany and met in Mannheim.
