Week-End Fest XII
Week-End Fest never sleeps. Thus, the year 2023 once again stands for change. With an opening concert, the festival starts this year already on Thursday, followed by two intense concert evenings & club nights on Friday and Saturday. Here we put program points for a club set-up again more in the foreground. In 2023, we will play all-areas the Stadtgarten and draw from the full to serve you from the concert hall, to "Vivian's Bedroom" - the space designed by the artist Vivian Suter, which will become the central place of the festival, to the Jaki Club a colorful program. Because that's what the Week-End Fest has stood for since day one: the form follows the program - and not the other way around. The Week-End Fest is and will remain an intimate boutique festival where overlooked gems of music history meet promising newcomers. A unique mix of talented artists from all over the world - from Brazil to Uganda - united with our favorite Cologne residents.

Festival Day II
Eddie Chacon & The Zenmenn (US)
Currently, Chacon is celebrating his second pop life: "Sundown", his second album since his comeback in 2020, was released on Stones Throw. He stands for neo-soul with subcultural
appeal. Who would have thought that, since his name was long associated with the chart-topping hit "Would I Lie
To You" from 1992.
Joyce w/ Jorik Bergman Ensemble (BR/DE)
Anyone who talks about música popular brasileira (MPB) cannot avoid Joyce. Born in 1948, the musician recorded an album with legendary producer Claus Ogerman in 1977, which was considered lost until last year. Together with Cologne-based arranger Jorik Bergman and her ensemble, this great album is brought back to life.
Nabihah Iqbal (UK).
The hyper-pop of her first band Throwing Shades in the early 2010s turned into an introverted bedroom sound that delicately draws on avant and dream pop. Instead of neon, coarse grain and sensual filter aesthetics reign today for British musician Nabihah. Her second album "Dreamer" has just been released by Ninja Tune and is already an album of the year for many.
MC Yallah (UGA)
Yallah Gaudencia Mbidde grew up in the Ugandan capital Kampala, where she started making rap music in 1999. The breakthrough should nevertheless be a long time coming. Since 2019, she has been working with Berlin-based producer Debmaster. MC Yallah is also part of the renowned musicians' network Nyege Nyege.
