Robert Landfermann / double bass
The Cologne musician Robert Landfermann is considered one of the best and most innovative European jazz bassists of his generation. The WDR and SWR jazz prize winner and winner of the "New German Jazz Prize" has played in a wide variety of formations on all continents with world stars such as John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Yo-Yo Ma, Charlie Mariano, Joachim Kühn, Django Bates, Ralph Towner, Chris Potter, Tomasz Stanko and Barre Philips. In the European scene he is known as an outstanding improviser, both in the traditional jazz environment and in the experimental avant-garde scene. In 2009 Landfermann's first solo double bass release "Null" was released on the JazzHausMusik label. His work on his solo repertoire is now in full swing again and the making of another record is imminent.
FOSTERCHILD
Jacob Anderskov / Piano
Fabian Arends / Drums
David Helm / Bass
Sebastian Gille / Saxophones
Kasper Tranberg / Trumpet
With a variation between post-jazz and contemporary (real-time) music, Fosterchild immediately takes the listener into their own universe. A subjugation in sound to things greater than ourselves.
The musicians from Copenhagen and Cologne are all protagonists of the European and international improvised music scene. As bandleaders they have all made numerous and notable appearances. But with Fosterchild, the musicians act and decide together and as a collective. Their collaborations date back to 2015, when Fabian Arends and David Helm invited the pianist Jacob Anderskov to the Cologne loft for their concert series First Meetings. Back then their common way of thinking about music, which is based on intuition and structure in equal measure, became apparent. The collaboration continued with several further concerts in Denmark and Germany. For this purpose the lineup was successively completed with Kasper Tranberg (trumpet) and Sebastian Gille (saxophone). In November 2018, Deutschlandfunk made three recording days available to the band in their magical chamber music hall. The result of this intensive session is documented on their current CD Dear Earthling.
